We are happy to announce that we have a new skin you can now use on your ShoutWiki sites, Truglass.
Truglass has a stylish and elegant design. The sidebar is on the right hand side of the page, and coupled with the lack of logo space provides a sleek and simple design ideal for professional sites.
Truglass was developed by Elliott Franklin Cable for the now defunct EnterWiki, with fixes and updates made by Jack Phoenix for ShoutWiki. The skin’s source code will be made open source in the near future.
To use Truglass as the default skin on your site, contact supportshoutwiki.com. You can set Truglass as your personal skin through Special:Preferences or Special:GlobalPreferences.
We’re excited to announce a brand new ShoutWiki-exclusive feature, global user pages.
Global user pages are exactly what they sound like — user pages which appear across all ShoutWiki sites. This means you can easily maintain one user profile across all ShoutWiki wikis. Of course, you can overwrite your user page on certain sites, but until you, do your default profile will appear globally.
Using global user page is simple: create your user page on ShoutWiki Hub, then go to your global preferences, click the “Use global user page” checkbox and save the changes.
The code is very similar to our recently launched Shared Help Pages feature. Both features were written by Jack Phoenix, and both are based on the HelpPages extension by Kunal Mehta.
The ShoutWiki staff have been busy improving our sites for the last few days.
It is safe to say that we have left the “hidden in the basement” stage of development and stepped into the public with our “beta site“, that we call the “Hub”. It will serve the role of a central wiki for the coordination of all sites – it is the site to look for feature documentation, staff contact details and support.
It is also the place to start your own wiki, if you wish to. If you don’t want to start a wiki, you can browse the list of ShoutWiki-hosted wikis and join an existing one!
In addition to English, ShoutWiki Hub is available in Finnish (Suomi) and Dutch (Nederlands) — so come and join us today!
If you have any questions, don’t hesistate to ask! ShoutWiki offers many different ways of communication, ranging from traditional e-mail to IRC channels and more…
Hey all! The main page of our site is now open for viewing, check it out on shoutwiki.com now.
We’re in a limited beta phase right now, meaning that a selected group of users have access to the site for testing purposes. These beta-testers will ensure that everything works properly before we open up the whole site for everyone.
We hope to launch the site in summer 2009 for the rest of the world.
If you would like us to host your wiki or you have some questions about the service, give us a shout at email@example.com.
I hope to see you on the wiki!
